What is BOD?

Biochemical Oxygen Demand (BOD) testing is an internationally recognized method of determining the concentration of organic matter in water samples. It is used extensively as a metric for the degree of organic pollution in water and to gauge the effectiveness of wastewater-treatment plants.

Typical BOD testing requires numerous samples to be maintained at 20 °C in the dark during a 5-day period.

BOD Incufridge

The Incufridge Professional line of refrigerated chilling incubators are uniquely suited to meet this need. Our 33-, 53-, and 73-liter capacity Incufridges are equipped with opaque, stainless-steel chambers capable of holding 12, 24, and 36 x 300 mL BOD bottles respectively. These thermostatically controlled chilling incubators maintain the BOD standard of 20 °C (µ ± SD: 20.2 ± 0.3 °C) despite significant changes in the external temperature (17.1 to 27.3 °C).
